We aim to grow the most sustainable produce in Central New York.
Our Beginning
Tassel Hill Farms took root in my, Blair Bellamy’s apartment. During college I had a need for fresh organic produce that were out of my price-range. So I started small, planting leafy greens in plastic tote containers utilizing deep water culture hydroponics. Quickly transforming into building a greenhouse in West Winfield, NY and operating another in Manlius, NY both utilizing aquaponics. Four years later, the farm has a central location, a unique self-sufficient off-grid homestead on Tassel Hill of Waterville, NY.
“My favorite question to ask is Why.”
— Blair Bellamy, FOUNDER
I quickly realized the need for a sustainable farm outside of any big city. Why is that? “Farmers in our area benefit from an abundance of usable land which may lead to missed opportunities in innovation. We are in the midst of a farming revolution, putting importance back on small farms is absolutely pivotal to this movement. Small farms enable us to manage every inch and make it much easier to incorporate regenerative sustainable farm models.”
Our Mission
Tassel Hill Farms hopes to compliment this already wonderful farming community with the most sustainable farming model. We want to always exemplify the importance of sustainable agriculture in all aspects. Showing that sustainable practices such as Integrated Pest Management, intercropping, minimal tilling, greenhouse production, hydroponics and aquaponics can all compliment one another.
