Our CSA presents added value in culinary varieties, organic health focused produce, wild foraged edibles, farm-to-table focused recipes from local chefs at The Tailor and the Cook, added goods from our friends at Syracuse Salt Company, FoJo Beans and the 55+ varieties offered throughout the 20 week season.
What to expect in your shares? Shares will be seasonally influenced, so in the initial weeks expect cool loving greens like arugula, lettuce mix, head lettuce, broccoli, kale, peas, carrots, celery, radishes, beets, turnips, spinach and micro greens. Then mid season expect larger things like squashes, beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers added onto many of the things mentioned before. With varietals changing throughout the season expect to see over 55+ different varieties of produce.
Sustainably Grown: We strive to be the most sustainable farm possible. In doing so many different techniques are utilized. Most popularly, minimal till techniques, IPM (integrated pest management / https://www.beyondpesticides.org/resources/safety-source-on-pesticide-providers/what-is-integrated-pest-management ), crop rotation and heirloom vegetables. Also the farm is one of the few 100% self sufficient farms in New York State. We can proudly say that our homestead is 100% powered by renewable resources via solar panels and a wind turbine. In an effort to further our minimal environmental impact we re-use wax boxes from local restaurants, compostable plastic bags and clamshells for produce, and we save seeds in an effort to create superior hyper-regional genetics.
Connections: Come visit the farm that borders 2,600 acres of state forest, Alfred J. Woodford memorial, which offers wooded trails both for bike and foot and plenty of opportunity to explore. Nestled in the heart of our historic agricultural corridor the farm offers beautiful views, migrating birds and other wildlife; while connecting with this beautiful region we call home. Feel great by knowing a portion of our CSA proceeds will help incubate our youth farming and fly-fishing programs!
Learning to Prepare and Enjoy More Veggies: Weekly shareholder newsletters and posts with tons of information on farm happenings, vegetable facts, quick and easy recipes provided by local chefs and bartenders from the likes of The Tailor and the Cook . We will be providing many unique vegetables that are packed with nutrition. You may be unfamiliar with some of our produce varieties but do not worry! Thankfully our chef and bartender friends are more than willing to help me answer any of our shareholders cooking related questions!
Once the season gets underway we will be adding a feature where you will be able to pick and choose through our 55 varieties to create your own custom boxes.
Last week of May thru 2nd week of October
Boxes include more than a daily value of produce for the aforementioned number of individuals.
Deadline for our CSA will be May 15th 2022.
You can become a member of our CSA at any time - Depending on availability we can certainly pro-rate a membership if you join midseason!
P.S. as a thank you for becoming a member, from time to time we will be adding a few fun products provided by local vendors that are great accompaniments to any meal!
