Chaga Mushrooms

Happy Friday!

I have listed on my site the highly sought after Chaga Mushroom. If you are perhaps unfamiliar check out these articles -https://www.webmd.com/diet/health-benefits-chaga-mushrooms , https://naturopathic.org/news/565437/5-Reasons-to-Consider-Chaga-Mushrooms.htm.

It is an absolutely wonderful organism that I consume weekly! Something health fanatics have routinely used for decades. I recommend it for those whom are looking to add yet another antioxidant immune system supporting powerhouse. I usually steep a large soup pot with multiple chunks of chaga in water, just under a boil until it is a deep brown (think dark bourbon colored). An added benefit is that you can strain out the chunks, dry them, refrigerate and re-use upwards of 5 times (until they do not hold their . This ensures a weekly supply, easy to reheat or a refreshing summer tea. The flavor reminds me of black tea.

Still Shares Available

Hello All,

Just wanted to post a quick update regarding availability. We still have shares! Remember small shares are perfect for a small family or a couple trying to fulfill their new years resolutions! A large share is perfect for a medium to large size family and/or one to two individuals whom follow a vegan diet!

The cost of either breaks down daily to the cost of a coffee from any of your favorite cafes.

15% of each CSA sold goes towards our new youth programs. We are attempting to create youth agriculture classes and outreach as well as creating a youth fly-fishing class! We are attempting to utilize those portions of proceeds to create necessary capital to cover transportation and material costs to host these programs.

An added bonus of indigenous fruits from our friends at White Lion Farms, a local non profit attempting to hire veterans and at risk youth to become edible landscapers, while helping to ensure a future for local edible plants. We of course will pay for these fruits to add to our boxes as every dollar helps this wonderful program!

Looking forward to Spring and we hope you are too!

2020 CSA!!

Hello everyone! I am beyond excited to have my inaugural post dedicated to our first CSA! That’s right, Tassel Hill Farms will be offering a full season CSA membership starting in 2020! You can find our sign up here -> https://tasselhillfarms.com/sign-up-now .

Our CSA will be 20 weeks long, with two sizes, one for a family or for one to two individuals. Our pickup sites at the moment are somewhat restricted (farmers markets, at the farm as well as at our farm-stand). However we are in discussion with a handful of other locations! I am proud to say our farm will be offering a plethora of healthful, sustainably grown products that will differ from local CSA’s in our area! Not only is our produce sustainably grown but remember our farm is 100% self sufficient!

How will our CSA differ from others? That’s a great question with the main difference being variety. We began our farm to please the needs of high caliber chefs. In doing so we realized the greatest chefs have the simplest secret, INGREDIENTS! So why not make available classic vegetables with a tasteful twist to our CNY aspiring chefs or locavores?! We are in an ever evolving age of technology making it easy to research produce, but we are making it even easier by communicating with local chefs. We will not only be providing you with recipes, but simple ways to prepare these seemingly foreign varieties. We are focusing on variety mainly for the nutritional abundance!

Thank you so much for you support! I will be continuing to update you as the winter progresses!
